CBRE Scoops Two Accolades At The ICSC Awards
CBRE, the global real estate advisor, has been recognised by the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Solal Marketing awards receiving two accolades, in the UK and Italy respectively, for excellence in the marketing and management of shopping centres.
In the UK, CBRE won the 2015 ICSC Foundation European Community Support Award for its work with Manchester Arndale regarding its ‘Empty Shop’ initiative. In partnership with charity partner, Mustard Tree, the ‘Empty Shop’ campaign is designed to engage with the wider community about the social challenge of homelessness. The ‘Empty Shop’ is filled with large quantities of unwanted clothes from retailers and donors, styled by fashion bloggers and stylists, for 10 days each year for the benefit of others.
Across Europe, CBRE was awarded the Silver Award for Sales Activation in conjunction with its innovative approach to property management at the 90,000 sq m Centro Sicilia of Catania in Italy. The team was recognised for developing an efficient and tailor-made coupon operating system called ‘My Special Card’ to revolutionise the shopping experience at the centre. It is the second award in recent months for the mall following its CNCC Certificate of Merit - Sales promotion obtained in Milan in December 2014.
Since inception in 1975, the ICSC awards recognise excellence in new and refurbished shopping centres across Europe, paying close attention to marketing, development, and retail store design.
“The ICSC awards are widely recognised as the most prestigious in the field of European retail property. We are delighted to win two which is testament to the quality, and depth, of our shopping centre service offering in Europe. Our work on the ‘Empty Shop’ initiative has meant the ICSC will make a financial contribution of over £3000 (c€4400) to our charity partner Mustard Tree which is hugely rewarding. These awards follow recognition of our Asset Services achievements in the CEE as Property Management Company of the year, as recognised by the Central & Eastern European Real Estate Quality Awards (CEEQA) in May.”
